Coverage of the reformed health care insurance

The new reformed health care insurance goes on to address the concerns of the individuals and provides them better options to what they didn’t have.

An employer who employs more than 50 individuals will need to provide them with a group health insurance plan. If an employer does not do so then they will be liable to pay a penalty to the government.

If you had a pre-existing condition then according to the old health insurance coverage a company could deny you the insurance. But, with the new health care reform, no insurance company will be able to deny you the coverage just because of a pre-existing health concern.

There will be the side by side running of government and private company’s health insurance plans. This will stop the monopoly of the private health insurance companies and people will be free to opt out of the more health insurance choices that are open to them.  The impact of this will be the nosedive of the skyrocketing health premium rates set by private health insurance companies so far.

All Americans will have to have some kind of insurance coverage for themselves or go on and face a penalty that is levied on them.  Now, the question arises about what if a family is not in a position to buy them the health insurance coverage then would they be liable to pay. There will be government subsidies to help out such families.

They will be given subsidies to tide them over. A family earning less than $88000 per year and with four members in the family will be eligible for a government subsidy to help them buy insurance coverage. For an individual it will be $43,000.

The government envisages that with these rules coming into force almost 98% of the US population will be covered under the new health insurance plan. This is a far cry away from the tons of people who are not insured at the moment.

The question that arises in most people’s mind is what is covered in this health insurance coverage. This will predominantly be decided by the health plan that you have opted for. If it is the basic plan then you will get the basics of health coverage without the toppings. However, the more expensive plans will have a full coverage of all the illnesses and with several add-ons to it.

All of this seems really good on paper but the major concern that most Americans have is where the money is going to come from. With the economy the way it is they dread the more taxes that are bound to be levied on them in order to meet these mammoth expenditures.

They worry about the financial burden being passed on to the citizens who are already grappling with recession. More taxes will mean less investment and therein there will be fewer jobs. All of this can only be seen once the reforms are put into place.
